A Safe Childcare Centre in Mascot

image about A Safe Childcare Centre in Mascot

Choosing childcare is one of the most personal decisions a parent makes. And for families in Mascot, Rosebery, Eastlakes, Alexandria, Zetland, Botany, and Beaconsfield, we know there are options.

So we don’t take it lightly when a family chooses us.

At Toybox Early Learning on Bourke Road, Mascot, trust is something we earn every single day. Here is what that looks like in practice.

1. It Starts With the People

Ask any parent what they noticed first about Toybox, and most of them say the same thing. They could tell the educators actually knew the children.

  • Qualified educators who go beyond the minimum. Government regulations require at least 50% of staff to hold diploma qualifications. We significantly exceed that, because we believe the standard of care your child receives should never be the bare minimum.
  • Low turnover, deep relationships. Many of our educators have been with us for years, some for over a decade. Your child won’t be handed between strangers. They will be known, by name, by temperament, by the things that make them light up.
  • Recognition that means something. We are proud recipients of the Best Team in New South Wales award. And some of our own educators have chosen to enrol their children at Toybox. When the people who work here trust it with their own families, that means something.

2. Physical Safety, Every Hour of the Day

Beyond our people, we have put in place the infrastructure to match.

  • 24/7 CCTV surveillance across our centre, around the clock.
  • Secure gated access with unique entry codes, available only during centre hours.
  • No mobile phones or smartwatches on the floor. In line with recent child safety reforms in New South Wales, personal devices are strictly prohibited in our rooms. Not just as a rule. As a commitment.

3. Transparency Is How We Operate

If we ever suspect a potential safety or compliance issue, we contact families and the Department of Education proactively, before we are required to. We don’t wait to be asked. Complete transparency with our regulatory bodies isn’t something we do when things go wrong. It’s how we operate all the time.

4. Rigorous Vetting and Continuous Training

Every team member is thoroughly vetted before they set foot in our rooms, and they keep learning long after they join us.

  • Every educator holds a valid Working With Children Check.
  • We complete a minimum of two reference checks for every new team member.
  • Every prospective staff member completes a Prohibition Notice Declaration, which is checked against the national register and recorded before they begin working with children.
  • Every educator completes Child Protection Training and Foundations of Child Safety Training, with ongoing inductions and peer reviews to support continuous professional growth

Safety at Toybox isn’t something we added on. It’s what everything else is built around.
