Building Confidence for School, One Visit at a Time

As part of Book Week, our preschoolers at our early learning centre in North Sydney and Mascot, headed to the local library for a little adventure beyond their usual storytime. It might look like a simple outing, but there’s a lot happening along the way.

A library visit gives children the chance to practise everyday skills that build confidence for school and beyond: walking together, waiting their turn, using a quiet voice, and listening to instructions from someone outside their usual classroom.

At our early learning centre in North Sydney, children choose their own books to borrow, giving them the opportunity to follow their interests and make independent choices.The same goes for our centre in Mascot, where a library visit often becomes the starting point for more storytelling, conversations and play back in the room.

It’s a lovely reminder that school readiness isn’t built through worksheets alone. It grows through everyday experiences, gentle practice and opportunities to navigate new places with confidence.
