We provide nappies, wipes, food, linen, sunscreen and hats. A welcome backpack is given as a gift to your child on enrolment.

Incursions and excursions

We have regular visits during the year by specialist educators. We have hatching eggs, puppet shows, crazy scientists, sea creatures and farm animals, visits from a dentist and emergency services personnel. We also invite all families who have a special skill to come and talk to the children. Pre-school children are engaged in activities in local schools or libraries to help them prepare for big school.

All classrooms have use of computers and ipads. This allows children to be familiar with today’s technology as they build towards tomorrow. Our language classes are also delivered by using ipads in the pre-school classroom.

Your child’s online portfolio

All families are given unique and secure access to their child’s online portfolio, showing the day’s activities and linking observations to developmental milestones within the curriculum.

Toybox provides nutritious food. We use quality suppliers and staff are trained in proper methods of food handling and hygiene. We regularly use fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in our gardens in cooking experiences with the children.

Dance and Sports Classes

We offer dance and sports classes each week for families who wish their children to participate.

All four year old children who are due to commence school in the following year are offered free eyesight screening by Government health officers through our centres.

All rooms and outdoor areas have plenty of equipment and educational materials to ensure children are stimulated, challenged & have fun. Playgrounds and classrooms are set up to provide ongoing variety in play and learning. Safety inspections of all equipment are regularly conducted.

Toybox has the latest technology high security protection, incl. CCTV and secure access systems. Each family is given their own unique access to our centres. Unauthorised collection of children is not permitted.

Government Support for families

Our centres are registered for government funding for families to assist in meeting the cost of care.

Two weeks bond and two weeks fees in advance are required to secure your child’s enrolment. The bond is fully refunded at the end of your child’s time at Toybox. Fees are billed fortnightly in advance.

Our notice period is 4 weeks for changes of days and termination of enrolment.

School Preparation Program

We offer a school preparation program delivered by qualified early childhood teachers, and children are introduced to all activities they will experience at school. We aim to ensure that children are socially and emotionally ready for school, as well as having the foundations for early literacy and pre-numeracy. Physical readiness for school is also a focus.

“I have sent all 3 of my children to Toybox from when they were babies and i recommend the service to anyone who is looking for a centre. I have moved several times since having my children enrolled and i have chosen to keep the children at this centre despite where i lived because i value their service and the level of care they show.

My eldest who is now in Kindy comes to the centre and is greeted warmly with genuine happiness by staff who have known her since she was 6 months old. I wholeheartedly trust the staff who i have known for many years now and i am always surprised by the amazing things my kids share with me after a day at Toybox. Everything from a new song they learned to sing in Spanish, or telling me about the solar system through to eating great nutritious food (when i couldn't get them to eat a vegetable at home!).

“Our little one has been in day care since he was 9 months old (he's now 2 years old). He enrolled at Toy Box when he was 1 year and 5 months after we decided to change him from a previous centre where our expectations were not met. After few weeks of being at Toy Box, we felt how much care and attention was given to our child and it was reflected on his behaviour and his development. There are so many things we love at Toy Box and most of them are possible thanks to its staff. All educators are experienced and knowledgeable. They encourage parents to actively share experiences from our children at home to provide activities that boost the development of the kids. We have experienced excellent results with our child on this regard because he is now able to communicate in both English and Spanish with a good range of vocabulary, he is able to wear his shoes, and he's eager to start toilet training. We truly believe Toy Box has played a crucial role on this achievement.

We had to move houses and decided not to change child care because our son is very happy at Toy Box. I'm impressed about the fact all staff knows him and know his name even though they are not in his room every day. I can see it happens with all children at the centre which shows strong engagement with the children.

“Our family just loved the time we spent at Toybox North Sydney. The Carers are all so loving and generous with their time, they make the effort to get to know each of the children personally. Every day is full of fun activities, and the kids enjoy every day. Excellent communication via the LIFT portal, as well as regular emails with updates of what the children have been up to. I also got some photos by Whatapp which was so special. All of these helped me to converse with my 4.5yo about her day, and extend learning to home as well. Parents were regularly invited to special events, Mothers/Fathers Day, Christmas Party, Halloween Party to name a few. Other celebrations were recognised, and celebrated by the kids e.g. Diwali, Chinese New Year, Valentines Day. It helped mum and dad feel very much included in everything. For a city-central facility, they really have a lovely outdoor area for the children to play in, with a garden and worm farm. Inside is equally as fun: an indoor play area, dining area, reading area, and separate rooms for the different classes. Every room was colourfully decorated with artwork done by the children, and photos of them with their families. We really are going to miss Toybox and the Educators, and I hope this review has helped you choose them!”

“The decision to send my 3 children into full time care from the age of 5 months was very difficult however it was made easier by the passionate, professional management and staff at Toybox. The communication and partnership between the staff and us (parents) has been open and honest. The educators are wonderful and value the expertise of the parent. They were more than happy to follow my requests and they sent me regular photos of my babies as well as keeping me up to date on their development. My youngest child is now in kindergarten. She often asks to go back and visit her friends (the staff) at Toybox. I miss the individualised care and attention that we no longer receive at ‘big’ school.
