5 Things You Need to Know About the New 3 Day Guarantee

From January 2026, Australian families will benefit from the Government’s new 3 Day Guarantee, a major step forward in making early learning more accessible and affordable for everyone. Here are the five key things you need to know about this exciting change.
1. Every Family is Entitled to Three Days of Subsidised Care
All Child Care Subsidy (CCS) eligible families will now receive a minimum of three days (72 hours) of subsidised childcare per fortnight, regardless of their activity level or work hours. This ensures every child can access early education opportunities.
2. It Removes Barriers for Families
Previously, the number of subsidised hours depended on parents’ work, study, or volunteering activity. The new guarantee removes that barrier, helping families who work flexible hours, are on parental leave, or between jobs.
3. It Supports Early Learning for All Children
Consistent attendance helps children build routines, develop friendships, and strengthen early learning outcomes. The 3 Day Guarantee ensures more children can benefit from high-quality early education experiences that set them up for school and beyond.
